PADI Instructor Development Courses (IDC)
The Instructor Development Course (IDC), consisting of the Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program, is the essential pathway for dive professionals aspiring to become PADI Instructors. By enrolling in the PADI IDC Course, individuals can acquire the comprehensive training and knowledge required to excel in their instructional career.
The AI course within the PADI IDC Course is designed to enhance candidates' teaching abilities and refine their dive theory knowledge. Through interactive classroom sessions, practical teaching exercises, and hands-on experience, participants gain valuable insights into instructional techniques, risk management, and effective student assessment. The AI course serves as a solid foundation for individuals who are passionate about sharing their love for scuba diving and aspire to become exceptional instructors.
Following the successful completion of the AI course, candidates progress to the OWSI program, where they further hone their teaching skills and expand their expertise. This program delves into more advanced instructional methods, providing candidates with a deeper understanding of the PADI System of diver education. Through confined water and open water training sessions, candidates develop the necessary skills to teach and supervise various diving activities.
Upon completing the PADI IDC Course, dive professionals are ready to embark on the next crucial step in their journey—the Instructor Examination (IE). This final evaluation assesses candidates' knowledge, skills, and ability to effectively deliver PADI programs. Successful completion of the IE leads to the prestigious PADI Instructor certification, granting individuals the authority to teach and certify divers of all levels.
